Wilding, Wellbeing & Walking (WWW)

Our Wilding, Wellbeing and Walking projects will help us all enjoy Capel’s beautiful greenbelt. See the sections below for more information about our work.

Capel Path Rangers (Walking)

We aim to encourage people to make the most use of the countryside, especially through walking the public rights of way.  To this end we will support the Capel Path Rangers, who will:

  • Regularly walk the rights of way to make sure the footpaths are walkable
  • Make sure they are well waymarked
  • Identify any blockages and barriers and either deal with them or report them to KCC’s Public Rights of Way team
  • Publish a new edition of ‘Walks in Capel’

Allotments

CGPS supports our local Parish Council and their development of the local Allotments and the Allotment Society. Grant funding is sought for facilities and equipment such as security equipment, fertiliser material etc.

The Five Oak Green allotments have been in our community since the 1920’s when Lord Falmouth donated the land to the community.

In order to encourage and foster a long term love for local green spaces, wildlife and the outdoors, CGPS will be partnering with the local schools and youth groups within the Capel parish boundaries. Through these affiliations we aim to engage with early years and school age children to the age of 13, their teachers and parents. The National Curriculum has a focus on the natural environment and sustainable lifestyles and CPGS will support these local schools by helping to deliver these elements of the national curriculum; through financial support, expertise and other materials and resources.
