CGS sponsor some of the maintenance equipment used by the volunteers in the Capel Path Rangers group and CGS pay for their walk booklets to be printed.
The group has created a booklet of walks, and they clear public paths.
Capel Path Rangers are a group of volunteers interested in maintaining and improving the public rights of way in the parish of Capel, Kent. We are recognized as a volunteer group by the Public Rights of Way section of Kent County Council who support our endeavours.
Specifically Capel Path Rangers:
- Regularly walk the rights of way to make sure the footpaths are easily passable;
- Make sure that paths are well waymarked;
- Identify any blockages and barriers and either deal with them or report them to Kent County Council’s Public Rights of Way team;
- Publish and update editions of the information pack “Walks in Capel”.
Capel Greenbelt Protection Society facilitate a programme “Wellbeing, Wilding, and Walking” (WWW) to support physical and mental health through the encouragement of visitors to roam our footpaths and enjoy the vistas of our ancient landscape, historic buildings and farmsteads. Therefore both bodies have an interest in encouraging people to make the most use of the countryside, especially through walking the public rights of way. To this end Capel Path Rangers apply for support from Capel Greenbelt Protection Society by way of funding for public liability insurance, purchase of mobile power tools, and reprinting the booklet of guided walks in Capel.
