CGPS is committed to promoting the use of our precious Greenbelt land now and into the future. Through engagement with the Parish’s schools and youth groups we can encourage school age children to be outdoors and to foster love for the countryside. Five Oak Green Brownies applied for funds to help restore their raised flower bed in the corner of the recreation ground. The Brownies get a lot of pleasure from planting and growing their own plants, learning not just about gardening but also the environment, wildlife and insects attracted to this part of the recreation ground whilst also enjoying and appreciating nature and the outdoors.
CGPS was delighted to present a cheque to the Brownies. The Brownies will be using the funds to buy new topsoil for the flower bed, bark for mulch, compost, tools, drip water feeders, plants, bulbs, watering cans and bug houses. Eventually they hope to set up a water butt for easier watering. We look forward to hearing about their progress with this worthwhile project.
