Village Hall packed for the CGS Annual Quiz

By January 28, 2026No Comments

It turns out that holding a quiz night in cold dark January is a good thing to do! Capel Greenbelt Society held its second quiz night on Friday 9th January, this year with Fish & Chips. Over 100 people quizzed on the night with 18 teams entering. Just over £1000 was raised on the night for the charity. Thank you to everyone who came along.

Short presentations were given by Hugh Patterson (representing Capel Parish Council and TW Borough Council), Charlie Keeling on behalf of Save Capel and Geoff Turner, Trustee of CGS charity.

The scoreboard showed Scores from the seven round quiz were close right up until the numbers came in for the two picture rounds. Some teams did well with these, and some not so, but the team which streaked ahead at the last hurdle was Make Tudeley Great Again – well done to them!

The Trustees would like to thank all the local businesses and individuals who donated raffle prizes. These include Capel Cottage Garden Nursery, The Village Shop Five Oak Green, Barsleys, Esquires Cafe Paddock Wood, Waitrose Paddock Wood, Oliver’s Fish and Chip Bar Paddock Wood, Hoppers Gym Five Oak Green, the Dovecote Inn and Tonbridge Brewery. Over 100 portions of fish and chips were efficiently delivered by Olivers of Paddock Wood and we would like to thank them for their support.  The PA system was kindly lent by Peter Miller and Alaric Smith kindly helped with setting this up. Thank you to everyone who helped on the night and in the preparation for the event. We will do this again next January!
